Gearbox wines focuses on grapes from the most prestigious cool climate wine regions and vineyards of California. These wines echo the style of the classic wines of Burgundy and highlight classic Burgundian grapes: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Although single vineyard wines are sometimes considered superior to regionally blended wines, the consistency and easy drinkability of a regional wine when made by a skilled winemaker cannot be denied. In this respect, Gearbox blends are made to grace the dinner table as elegant, light-hearted, ready-to-drink counterparts to the more austere and long lived premier and grand cru wines of the region.

Pinot Noir is Burgundy's most famous red grape variety believed to have originated from a rare grape grown in only a few selected regions of France, Gouais Blanc.
